TGA Tyneside Open 2011 - Results

The day was quite possibly the worst we have had on the TGA tour. It started off promising with the morning group getting away in dry, but overcast conditions but by the time the first group reached the 12th hole the rain had taken hold and showed no signs of letting up. In total 14 players started the course but only 10 managed to complete it. One of those being Dave Smith, claiming his second TGA Tour win with a score of 2 under. Impressive on any day but more so considering the elements. Tony Smith claimed the longest drive on his way to 9 over, and no one managed to find a green for a nearest to the pin. The afternoon group never really threatened the lead but Ian Sykes did shoot and impressive 4 over to find himself in 2nd place overall.

Such a shame, the greens where in amazing condition, the course was playing nicely but overall a bad day to be on a golf course. Let's move towards Major Championship weekend at Throston.
