TGA Wearside Open 2011 - Results

It was a hardy group of golfers that slung their bags on their backs and trudged through the rain at Houghton in search of the first piece of silverware on the 2011 TGA Tour.
The day could have been a lot worse and the sun even shone for a short time in the later stages, and the tough conditions didnt stop a number of players from shooting good scores. Champion Ian Manthorp and Winter League Champion Jamie Drummond both set the course alight en route to 42 and 41 points respectively. Jane Baillie also made it into the 40's with a great round which included 2 birdies.
Ian and Jamie also took a Nearest to the Pin each, Whilst Paul Stokes claimed the Long Drive title with a 300 yard scorcher. Anthony Wise took home the 100 Club Championship with a respectable 27 points and ultimately Jamie Drummond claimed the Winter League Championship with a final total of 86 points.
Many apologies to everyone for the chaotic nature of the day. A lot had happened during the week with the course closure, trolley bans etc that it really made it difficult for me to organise much in advance so a lot of it was done "on the fly" so to speak. I hope it didnt spoil anyone's enjoyment, and hope to see everyone soon for the Northumberland Open.
